10/7 -- Test today. On Thursday, 50% of the students in each class did not do their workbook, did not have a Study Guide finished so they could study for the test, or both. The NT Wkbk. was assigned 9/23, they were given 4 class periods to do it, it's been assigned HW multiple nights, and I'd gone over every question with them. The Study Guide was sent home 9/30, they had 2 periods this week to work on it, and I told them to have all the answers by 10/4 so they could quiz each other in class 10/5 & 10/6. It was a very disappointing day. Period 3 was 70% incomplete.
Detentions were served Thursday and will continue Friday for those students who were not done, did not show up for detention, or were rude (5 students).

Please be aware that an absence means you need to have someone drop your project off for you if you want to get credit.
9/21 -- Finish Map showing the 4 stages of the growth of the Roman Empire. Start with the 1st Map key box, draw the borders for that area, color the key box and the area, and then do the next 3 time periods one at a time. USE THE SAMPLE MAP ON PINK OR BLUE PAPER to help with your white final version copy.
9/20 -- SU 1A on Octavian Augustus (use lecture notes & illustrations)

PROJECT ALERT!! Directions went home on Friday, 9/16, for the 1st half of their project, a travel brochure to ancient Rome. They will receive the 2nd set of directions on Friday, 9/23. Each set needs to be followed carefully to get full points (200). Due date is 10/11/11.

9/15 -- Using the lecture notes and illustration (Statesmen in Republican Rome), do SU 5A. Instead of accomplishments, think "facts".
9/14 -- Read "Politics & Citizenship"
Do SU 4A (use the Branches of Government illustration)
Read "Citizenship in Roman Times" & answer ?'s in COMPLETE SENTENCES.
9/13 -- Read "Rise of Rome"

9/9 -- With your parents, read the class description & supply list (2-sided orange paper). Cut off bottom, sign & return. Worth 5 pts. of extra credit.
Save the definitions from class, using textbook pp. 91-97, for class tomorrow. NOT HW.
On your own, skim thru maps & 1st part of your textbook (up to pp. 125) to prepare for your extra credit review test on Friday. (HINT -- pay attention to anything that mentions history curriculum from 6th grade.)
Leave your textbook at home. but keep workbooks in backpacks.
